The History of Karg

What started as a backyard workshop has evolved into a destination for art, experience, and discovery.

From Studio to Destination

Karg Art Glass began as a small, independent studio focused on creating and selling handcrafted glass pieces. After outgrowing an earlier space, Rollin moved the operation to its current location in Kechi in 2003, a building that has since become one of the region's most recognized destinations for glass art.

Connections made through art shows and exhibitions introduced new artists and new mediums, gradually transforming the space into a curated collection of work from across the country.

Glass remains at the heart of Karg, but the gallery has grown to include metal, ceramics, jewelry, and other handcrafted pieces.

As interest in the work grew, so did the opportunity to share it as a place that invites others to experience it up close…more artists, more mediums, and a more immersive experience.

Growing the Gallery

As the gallery expanded, so did its vision.

Karg has evolved from a place to view finished work into a place to experience the creative process firsthand.

The working hot shop and hands-on opportunities allow visitors to see how glass is formed and shaped. Demonstrations and interactive experiences create a deeper connection, turning a visit into something memorable and personal.

This blend of gallery and experience continues to define what makes Karg unique.

Continuing the Story

When Rollin Karg retired from glassblowing in 2020, the studio he built kept moving forward. The gallery has grown and shifted over time, always honoring the spirit on which it was built. Today, Karg stands as a reflection of that original vision, rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the art of making…carried forward through the work, the people, and the experiences he made possible.
