Sam Bland

Sam Bland is a glass artist from Emporia, Kansas, where he earned his BFA in glass forming from Emporia State University. His work has been exhibited on the Emporia State campus and in gallery spaces across multiple states, and he has spent nearly a decade exploring the material in an ever-expanding range of capacities.

Sam's current work focuses on multimedia organic sculptures that bring together glass and wood…forms that feel rooted in the natural world while pushing against its boundaries. For Sam, glass is less a medium than a conversation: its dynamic quality and almost limitless potential mean that every piece is an opportunity to learn something new.

This fall, Sam begins graduate studies in Arts Leadership and Management at Wichita State University, a next chapter that reflects his deep commitment to the art form and the community around it.

Sam teaches Blow Your Own classes and one-on-one workshops at Karg, bringing that same spirit of curiosity and craftsmanship to every student who steps into the hot shop.
